Walter C. Flower, III
An investment counselor, Walter C. Flower III is
president of Walter C. Flower & Company, Inc. and has served in this
capacity since 1978. He received a
Bachelor of Arts Degree in Economics from Tulane University in 1960 and
a
master’s degree in business administration in finance from Harvard
University in 1964.
Prior to the start of Walter C. Flower & Co., Inc., Mr. Flower served as
Vice-President, Managing Partner of Loomis, Sayles & Company, Inc., a
national investment counseling firm, which New Orleans office he opened
and operated until forming his own company in 1978. He has served as a
consultant to the Agency for International Development, U.S. State
Department, performing economic studies (1964-1965); as a Supply Corps
Officer in the U.S. Navy (1960-1962); as a Director of Lusk Shipping
Company, Inc. (1965-1995); as Chairman of the Executive Committee of
Southern Vital Records Center, Inc. (1980-1990), and as a Director of
the Starmount Company (1981-2008). He has also served as past Chairman
of the Tulane Health Sciences Center Board of Directors; as past
President of the St. Charles Avenue Association, and as a Director of
Longue Vue House & Garden and the Historic Faubourg St. Mary, a
non-profit revolving fund for historic preservation.
Currently, in addition to serving as President of the Industrial
Development Board of the City of New Orleans, he presently serves on the
President’s Counsel of Tulane University; as Chairman of the Finance
Committee of the Tulane Hospital Board, and as a current member of the
Beauregard Historic House.
Mr. Flower is listed in “Who’s Who in America”, and “Who’s Who in
Finance and Industry”.
